What Does Awareness Wristbands Color Symbolize?

From magnets on the back of cars to small silky symbols worn by someone, ribbons have become the symbol of awareness, with certain colors symbolizing support for specific causes. Below is a list of some of the most popular bracelet colors and some of their most well-known meanings:
Black : Symbolizes mourning, shows support for people suffering from melanoma, and promotes awareness of gang prevention.
Blue : Promotes awareness of drunk driving, child abuse, colon cancer (brown is also appropriate), colorectal cancer (brown is also appropriate), anti-tobacco & second hand smoke, dystonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), alopecia, Education, Epstein-Barr Virus, and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). Was also used to show support for the victims of hurricane Katrina.
Brown : Well known awareness color as an anti-tobacco symbol as well promoting awareness for colon and colorectal cancers (alternative wristband color is blue).
Burgundy : Symbolic of brain aneurysm, multiple myeloma, William's syndrome, Thrombophilia, Antiphospholid Antibody Syndrome, and adults with disabilities, Cesarean section, headaches, hemangioma, vascular malformation, and hospice care.
Camouflage : Symbolize support for troops overseas and patriotism.
Dark Blue : Symbolizes support for people with arthritis, child abuse prevention, victim's rights, free speech, water quality, and water safety
Gold : Promotes childhood cancer awareness.
Green : Promotes awareness of eco-friendly practices, , environmental concerns, homeopathy, childhood depression, missing children, open records for adoptees, kidney cancer, and tissue/organ donation.
Grey : Symbolize support for people with diabetes, asthma, and brain cancer.
Lavender : Used to promote awareness of epilepsy, rett syndrome, and cancer in general.
Light Blue : Promotes awareness of prostate cancer, Trisomy 18, scleroderma, and childhood cancer (pink or gold is also appropriate).
Multi-Colored (Rainbow) : Symbolizes gay pride and support for the GLBT community.
Orange : Symbolizes support for people battling leukemia or hunger, as well as promoting awareness of cultural diversity, humane treatment of animals, and self-injury.
Pale Yellow : Symbol of spina bifida.
Pearl : Symbolizes support for people suffering from emphysema, lung cancer, mesothelioma, and multiple sclerosis.
Periwinkle: Symbolizes awareness of eating disorders and pulmonary hypertension.
Pink And Blue Combination : Symbolizes support for people coping with miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death due to SIDS or other causes.
Pink Color: Popularly associated with breast cancer awareness, this wristband is also a symbol for birth parents, and sometimes childhood cancer awareness (light blue or gold is also appropriate).
Purple : Symbolic of pancreatic cancer, testicular cancer, thyroid cancer, lupus, Alzheimer’s, domestic violence, ADD/ADHD, animal abuse awareness, religious tolerance, support for the victims of 9/11 including the police and firefighters, Crohn's disease and colitis, cystic fibrosis, leimyosarcoma, and fibromyalgia.
Red : Commonly associated AIDS and HIV awareness or the campaign against drug abuse, red wristbands are also used to promote awareness of heart disease, stroke, Epidermolysis Bullosa, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, as well as the MADD, and DARE organizations.
Red-White-And-Blue : Symbolizes patriotism, support for the troops, and support for the victims and heroes of 9/11.

Yellow : Made popular by Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG wristband campaign, the color yellow also stands for supporting our troops, MIA/POW awareness, suicide prevention, adoptive parents, endometriosis, bladder cancer, spina bifida, and amber alerts.
