Raise Awareness with Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Wristbands

The color pink has become well known as the awareness color for breast cancer. Breast cancer awareness month is in October, and it’s common to see the color pink everywhere, including the White House! The pink ribbon first came on the scene as a symbol of breast cancer awareness in the early 90s, started primarily by cosmetics giant Estee Lauder. The pink ribbon took off from there, and soon became a symbol on a variety of merchandise. Pink breast cancer wristbands were soon to follow.

Branding strategy experts began to include the pink ribbon on a variety of merchandise, seeing it both as a promising marketing tactic and a way to give back to a cause important to its key demographics. These awareness efforts have meaning far greater than branding. It’s reported that between 1991 and 1996, federal funding for breast cancer research increased nearly fourfold to over $550 million.
