Pediatric Cancer Wristbands

September is pediatric cancer awareness month. Gold is the awareness color used to recognize the range of diseases that make up pediatric cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma, brain cancers, cancers of the muscle and tissue, and neuroblastoma. Pediatric cancer wristbands are often used as part of awareness events in September to help raise awareness all year long. The number symbol "46/7" is a message often seen in conjunction pediatric cancer awareness. It symbolizes the 46 children diagnosed with cancer each day in the US, and the seven who die each day.

Pediatric Cancer Bracelets

The average age of children diagnosed with cancer is six. More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year. Since the mid-1950s, cooperative research has improved the survival rates for childhood cancer in the United States from less than 10% to almost 80% overall. Cure rates vary according to each specific type of childhood cancer, and some types remain very difficult to cure. All cure rates need to be improved.
