Raise World Polio Day Awareness With Wristbands

October 24 Is World Polio Day

Although vaccination has made polio virtually non-existent in many parts of the world, it is still a problem in several countries. According to the World Health Organization, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan are the only three countries that have not stopped transmission of polio. With a goal of completely eradicating the disease, Rotary has established October 24 as World Polio Day each year, and at Amazing Wristbands, we hope they achieve that goal soon.

In 1971, Congress appointed August 26 to be the annual date to observe Women’s Equality Day. The date was chosen because it was the same date that, in 1920, the 19^th Amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote. In the years since then, Women’s Equality Day has been an opportunity for educators, parents, and individuals to learn more about women’s suffrage and the 19^th Amendment. On Women’s Equality Day, the President is authorized and requested to commemorate the women’s suffrage movement.
